It would be wiser to finalise your work plan before applying for a visa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Does Buying a House in Portugal Grant the Right of Residence?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of the topics on which there is the most misinformation about Portugal on the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the past, property investments that met certain criteria could be included in the Golden Visa programme. However, nowadays, purchasing a property in Portugal does not, in itself, grant the right of residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In other words, it is possible to buy a property in Portugal; however, you cannot obtain a residence permit simply on the basis of owning a property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current Golden Visa scheme does not include the option to purchase property. The programme offers various alternatives, such as investing a minimum of 500,000 euros in specific investment funds, supporting research activities, making cultural investments, creating jobs, and investing in specific companies. On AIMA\u2019s current investment-based residency page, the purchase of property is also not listed amongst the eligible investment options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For this reason, you should definitely not rely on claims such as \u201cIf you buy a property in Portugal, you will automatically be granted residency\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acting on incorrect information may result in a person failing to obtain a right of residence, despite having made an investment worth hundreds of thousands of euros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Most Important Advice for Those Thinking of Moving to Portugal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t act on every piece of information you come across on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fact that someone has moved to Portugal on a particular visa does not mean that the same visa is suitable for you.
