Portuguese Golden Visa: Residence through Investment
Description: The Golden Visa is a programme that grants the right of residence in Portugal in return for a qualifying investment. Following an update to the housing law, the property route has been removed; the programme now centres on CMVM-approved investment funds (minimum €500,000). A key feature of the programme is its flexible residency requirement: you can maintain your residency by spending an average of 7 days a year in Portugal, whilst travelling freely within the Schengen Area. You are not obliged to move to Portugal.
Who is it for: Investors who wish to invest their capital in Europe and are looking for residency or a “Plan B” without having to live in Portugal on a permanent basis.
Terms and conditions: An investment of at least 500,000 euros in a CMVM-approved investment fund, a NIF, a Portuguese bank account, a clean criminal record and a requirement to spend an average of 7 days a year in Portugal are required.
Scope: Acquisition of the NIF, identification of a suitable investment fund and coordination of the investment process, opening a bank account in Portugal, preparation of the application dossier and coordination of the appointment process.
