D2 Entrepreneur Visa

Description: The D2 is a residence route designed for entrepreneurs wishing to set up a company, relocate their existing business or work as a self-employed person in Portugal. The key factor is not so much the amount of investment as the viability of the business idea and its contribution to the Portuguese economy. As it runs in parallel with the company formation process, you will establish both your business and your right to residence during the same process.

Who is it for: Entrepreneurs setting up a business, those relocating their existing business to Portugal, and self-employed individuals.

Terms and conditions: A convincing business plan, sufficient financial resources, a company that is usually established or to be established in Portugal, a NIF, a Portuguese bank account, accommodation, health insurance and a clean criminal record are required.

Scope: Obtaining a NIF, selecting and setting up a company, preparing and reviewing the business plan, registering with the tax authorities, registering for social security, opening a bank account, guidance on housing/tenancy agreements, guidance on health insurance, preparing the application dossier and coordinating the appointment process.
