Portuguese D7 Visa: Residence Based on Passive Income

The D7 is one of Portugal’s most accessible residency routes. The criteria are not based on age or retirement, but on having a regular passive income from overseas sources. This income may come from sources such as a pension, rental income, dividends or interest. It is therefore misleading to refer to it as a “retirement visa”; anyone who is still working but has a source of passive income is also eligible to apply.
